Upcoming PTSA Events
NOTICE OF PTSA BOARD ELECTION
At our regular General PTSA Membership Meeting on March 18th, we will be voting on our PTSA Board for the 2019 – 2020 school year.  Our Nominating Committee has prepared the following slate of officers for next year:
Tami Lawson – President
Lena Benisch – Vice President
Kendra Long – Treasurer
Heather McLaughlin – Secretary
Members at the March meeting will be asked to vote yes or no on the above slate.  Come to the March meeting in order to share your voice to our future.

Silent Auction – April 12, 2019
Our annual silent auction as part of the talent show will be here before we know it.  This is a MAJOR fundraiser for us and helps us be able to help pay for the Enrichment programs we hosted and will host as part of our enrichment goal this year.  Many hands make light work, so we are looking for those many hands! If you have ½ an hour that you can help us, recruit products to sell and/or prepare for the event, then WE NEED YOU!  If you can help, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org, 303-588-6639, and let me know what you think you can do. Thank you for your continued support!

School Start Times
For those that don’t know, the district is exploring changing school start times. The Task Force looking into it made their recommendations to the Board at the last Board meeting. For more information, visit the task force website: https://sites.google.com/jeffco.us/jeffcoschoolsstarttime/meeting-notes

SAVE THE DATE

Our very important fundraiser, the Talent Show and Silent Auction, has been scheduled for Friday, April 12th.  We share the wealth by asking all members to donate ONE item to the auction.  This can be something you make or something you ask a business to donate or something you have and are ready to part with!  When you identify your item, please email us at ccck8ptsa@gmail.com to let us know what it is and the approximate value so we can include it in the auction.

February Meeting Notes

Our meeting notes from the February meeting are also now available for your review. As noted we spent most of the time discussing the teachers’ wish lists.

THE KIDS MARATHON CHALLENGE

What it is – A fun way for kids age 14 & under to set a fitness goal and complete a marathon at the same time! Kids who take on the Kids Marathon Challenge commit to running a total of 25.3 miles between January 1st and April 6th. That’s less than 2 miles a week! On Sunday April 7th, you can join hundreds of other kids at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield to run the final 0.9 miles to finish their marathon, with an exciting finish in the 1STBANK Center Stadium where they will receive their Kids Marathon Challenge finisher medal. The cost of doing this event is $15 and you get a t shirt (or cape) and a special 26.2 bib number.
We will be reinstating the Mileage Club as a way for you to rack up your miles at recess before April 7th, but you can also walk or run mileage on your own as long as you keep track. There are special sheets available to track your mileage or you can make your own. If you want to run but don’t want to do the Kids Marathon Challenge in Broomfield, you can do it all here at K8. We will celebrate our mileage here before school is out. More information is
available at https://race4kidshealth.com/kids-marathon-challenge/

Important Meeting Tomorrow!

Our next General Membership PTSA meeting will be:
Monday, January 14th
6:00 – 7:00 pm C3AC Budget Parent Input Meeting
7:00 – 8:00 pm PTSA meeting
CCCK-8 Library

January’s meeting is a very important two-part meeting. From 6 – 7 pm, we will have the opportunity to share with the school our priorities as family and community members about how we want to see the school build its budget for next year. If you want the school to hear where you would like them to spend their money, then this is the meeting to share that information as well as listen to other people’s priorities.

Then from 7 – 8 pm we will have our standard monthly meeting where we will discuss the progress of our Nominating Committee for next year’s PTSA officers and board members. We will review our progress on our goals and our not-so-difficult effort to spend some money! Finally, we will kick into high-gear in preparation for our spring events!

The full agenda is available by clicking here: PTSA January 2019 Agenda

Here are the notes from December’s meeting: PTSA December 2018 Meeting Notes

Participating in these meetings is a great way to learn about what is happening in our school to make it the best learning environment for our kids.

Child care will be available on Monday night, so please join us!!

Thank you for your support of our awesome school!
