Membership Challenge

UPDATE:  Today is the LAST DAY to get your memberships in for our Membership Challenge.   At press time, 6th grade has jumped into the lead with the help of Mr. Birch’s 2-point membership and by being the tiniest class in the school!  Even with those advantages, 1st through 4th are super-close on their heels!  Watch out 6th grade!

CONGRATULATIONS!  CCCK-8 PTSA was one of five winners of the September Colorado PTA membership challenge!  We were awarded $50 cash and a $50 gift certificate due to our board being so prompt at joining this year.  Thank you to Joanna Waggoner, Lesa Clarkson, Stephanie Rosario and Tami Lawson for submitting our entry for this award!!  Every dollar counts, and you just delivered $100!

The November challenge is based on the percentage of membership to student enrollment.  Our odds are good with a small school and a dedicated PTSA community!  We appreciate every member for their support!

PTSA Upcoming Events:

Monthly General Membership Meeting
Monday, October 3rd
6:30 – 7:30 pm
The next PTSA meeting will be on Monday, October 3rd.  In the PTSA meeting, we will be finalizing our goals and budget for this school year and plan for upcoming events, including Trick or Treat Street.  Participating in these meetings is a great way for you to make a difference in our school by helping us make decisions about what we can and should be doing for our school to make it the best learning environment it can be.

Save the Dates:
10/6 – Helping Kids Thrive Parent Night, Creighton Middle School, 5 – 8:45 pm
10/19 – Child Assault Prevention Workshop – 6 pm
10/28 – Trick or Treat Street

Local Opportunity:

Music Lessons: Our very own teachers, Brian Birch and Jerry Rasch offer private music lessons.  Mr. Birch teaches guitar for grades 5 – 7 on Tuesdays or Thursdays.  Mr. Rasch teaches all ages for guitar, ukulele and harmonica as well as some music theory.  Please contact them if you are interested in lessons for your kids.  Students who study music or play musical instruments do better in school and learn a life-long skill!

Help Wanted:

Fundraising Chair:  Fundraising makes what we do as a PTSA possible.  This is how we are able to support the school with staff through funding para-professional hours, provide enrichment programs like field trips and assemblies, and equipment like SmartBoards, ipads & Chromebooks.  I may be biased, but I think our fundraising chair has it pretty good here.  Like most positions, you can make it as big or as small of a position as you want it to be.  We very purposefully try not to sell things.  However, we have had some success with the Evergreen fundraiser, and we are hearing some clamors for the return of the reusable bag fundraiser.  Our major fundraisers are events.  Our fundraising chair does not have a lot to do for Trick or Treat street, but the silent auction as part of the talent show in the spring is very important.  Finally, the more we raise through the alternative fundraisers, the less we have to do anything else!  This is a great position to develop professional skills like sales, marketing, negotiation, budgeting and planning.  If you are interested, please contact Jody Dickson,

STILL NEEDED: Halloween is approaching, and we still need Classroom Parents for the following grades.  These people are responsible for organizing classroom parties and being the liaison for the teacher to the PTSA and parent community.   If you are able to serve in this role, please contact Jody Dickson,

  • 4th Grade
  • 5th/6th Grade
  • 7th Grade
  • 8th Grade

Stay tuned on our website or on our Facebook page for more information on upcoming programs. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, please feel free to contact me.
