11/10/17 Friday Notes

Upcoming PTSA Events
Monthly General Membership Meeting
Monday, November 13th
6:30 – 8:00 pm
The C3AC and PTSA meetings will be on Monday, November 13th since the third Monday of this month is during Thanksgiving break.  The C3AC will start at 6 pm.  PTSA will join that meeting for a shared time at 6:30 pm when we will get an update from the Principal and staff.  In the PTSA meeting, we will review our budget for the school year now that our goals are finalized.  We will also be developing action items around our PTSA engagement goal (as that will help us achieve the other ones!).  We will also gather feedback about the Trick or Treat Street event.  Participating in these meetings is also a great way to learn about what is happening in our school to make it the best learning environment for our kids.

GOAL PROGRESS: We are exactly on our goal for 10 people per meeting, so we need 10 or more people to come to Monday’s meeting to continue to meet that goal!  Hope to see you there!

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.)

Planning to purchase decorative gifts for your family for the holidays?  Orders for our annual Evergreen Fundraiser are due by 11/28.  Buy yourself decorations, send some to your family and friends, and encourage them to do the same.  It ALL supports our ability to support our school!  More information is available on our website at

Please help with a BIG Fundraising Goal

For the past year, we have been trying to fundraise for a supplemental reading program that is really important for the students who are struggling with reading early in their education.  We already have the “Leveled Literacy Intervention” program for K – 2 grades.  Now we are trying to purchase the next level so the students that are still struggling with reading after 2nd grade can continue to benefit from the program.  It is a BIG ask, but we think it is really important for the students that need it.  Ms. Little has started a Donors Choose campaign:  Please go online and donate as much as you can.  Then forward to friends, family and businesses that you think would help support this important effort.

Eagle Eyes is a program where men are present in the school during school hours, helping the students and staff and keeping watch for good and bad behaviors in and around the school.  You do not need to be a dad to participate: Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Brothers, Cousins, Neighbors, Dads are all welcome!  To claim your spot, go to this Sign Up form: If you have any questions about the program, please contact Jason Moat, 303-378-4500

Stay tuned on our website or on our Facebook page for more information on upcoming programs. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, please feel free to contact me.
