February is “Be Nice to Staff” month as designated by the 4th grade for the Friends of Rachel Club monthly activity.  Take a moment to smile, say something nice, put a note in their buckets, or help them around the school.  There are plenty of ways to be nice, so find your own way and share kindness with the staff this month!

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.) To make it easy, here is the link to tie your Smile account to CCCK-8 PTSA:

Community Help Request:

Challenger Sports Camps is looking for a program coordinator for the summer camps they host right here at CCCK-8.  We’ve been hosting this popular program since the turf field was installed.  They are looking for a ‘Camp Coordinator’ to be the point of contact for your local camp, and to help them find ways of reaching as many families and children as possible. You’ll be helping them with some of the following:

– Place posters and banners in the local community e.g. stores, Rec centers, coffee shops etc.,

– Drop off flyers at local schools, youth groups, Mom’s groups etc.,

– Post on community group Facebook pages and other social media outlets.

They will provide all of the material needed to distribute in the area, and they will keep in touch with you to share ideas on how we can best provide the most successful camp experiences.  If you are interested in helping to organize these successful camps, please contact Nathan Robinson  at

The CCCIA is looking for a volunteer to organize the kid volunteers for the Pancake Breakfasts they host.  There are four a year, but they only use kids at three of them (February, May and September).  This is an EASY volunteer job as there are a few shifts and lots of kids who regularly like to volunteer.  They do like the adult volunteer to supervise the kids during the breakfasts themselves, but other volunteers can be recruited for that as well!  If you are interested, please contact Bruce Goodwin at x0529  Also contact Bruce if you or your kids are interested in volunteering at the breakfast on February 10th

Eagle Eyes is a program where men are present in the school during school hours, helping the students and staff and keeping watch for good and bad behaviors in and around the school.  You do not need to be a dad to participate: Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Brothers, Cousins, Neighbors, Dads are all welcome!  To claim your spot, go to this Sign Up form: If you have any questions about the program, please contact Jason Moat, 303-378-4500

2018 – 2019 Teacher Appreciation

Our very dear Laura Graves is resigning from her position for next year as teacher appreciation coordinator.  If you are interested in showing all of our appreciation for our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do by organizing four staff meals over the year and preparing occasional gifts and special treats for them, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take as much time as the Special Events work, but it still VERY important.

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson,  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.

Stay tuned on our website or on our Facebook page for more information on upcoming programs. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, please feel free to contact me.
