9/14/18 Friday Notes

PTSA Upcoming Events:
General Membership Meeting – Monday, September 17 – 6:30 – 8:00 pm
The C3AC and PTSA meetings will be on Monday, September 17 th . C3AC will start at 6 pm. PTSA will join that
meeting for a shared time at 6:30 pm when we will get an update from the Principal and staff. In the PTSA
meeting, we will be kicking off planning for this school year which means we’ll need to be making some critical
decisions around goals, financials, upcoming events and more. There will also likely be a discussion around timely
legislative activity. There is NOT a more important meeting to attend this year if you want to influence our
priorities for the upcoming school year. Participating in these meetings is also a great way to learn about what is
happening in our school to make it the best learning environment for our kids.

Classroom Membership Challenge

Join the CCCK-8 PTSA and your child’s classroom could win an activity of their choice: Board (Games) at School, Escape Room Challenge or Video Game Competition!  The classroom with the highest percentage of memberships by Sept 28 will win!  Each child who has at least one member join on their behalf counts as one.  Teachers count as two for their homeroom classroom!  Members count for each of their students’ grades.  Your membership makes it possible for us to support classroom enrichment, innovation stations and teachers’ wish lists.  As a member, you also have a voice in how we prioritize what we are working on and how we spend our funds in a year.  For more information, contact Tami Lawson,  We appreciate your support!

Leaderboard: Two weeks left, and we are seeing more leaderboard changes!  6th has taken a solid lead with 8th in second and 4th in third.  7th and 1st are close behind.  With such a small school, EVERY MEMBERSHIP HAS BIG IMPACT!!  Don’t forget to be counted, you must become a member by September 28th.

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.)

Classroom Parents

We still need Classroom Parents for 6th – 8th grades.  These people are responsible for organizing classroom parties and being the liaison for the teacher to the PTSA and parent community for enrichment and volunteering.   If you can serve in this role, please contact Jacqueline Drouillard at

Teacher Appreciation

UPDATE: I have one person who would like to SHARE this position.  If you were hesitant to take on the whole thing, but are willing to do it with someone else, please contact Jody (contact info below.)  Remember: Many hands make light work… and it is always fun to volunteer with a friend!

Do you like to treat others with gifts or other special treats?  We are seeking a Teacher Appreciation Coordinator.  The position is responsible for organizing two staff dinners, two staff lunches and other teacher and staff appreciation treats throughout the year.  The school staff works hard for our community kids, so we want to show them all the love they deserve!  If you are interested in helping us demonstrate to all our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take much time, but it still VERY important.  This position works well as a job-sharing opportunity, if you don’t want to do it by yourself, and community members are welcome to apply!  If you or someone you know might be interested this position, please contact Jody Dickson,

Stay tuned on our website or on our Facebook page for more information on upcoming programs. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, please feel free to contact me.
