Evergreen Fundraiser

The PTSA is holding our annual evergreen fundraiser.  These items smell wonderful, are really well made and last quite a while!  You can order up until 11/17 (for delivery to the school around Dec 5).  Orders can be placed on our website, or you can email Tami Lawson your order and deliver a check directly to the school by 11/17.  There are also a few direct ship options if your child’s out of town family members would like to support us too… or if you would like to send them a lovely season-celebrating gift!

Help us get a 3-D Printer!!

We have launched a second Donors Choose campaign.  Donors Choose works just like KickStarter or GoFundMe, but they are specific to meeting the needs of schools and classrooms.  Ms. Norris is fundraising for a 3-D printer.  This piece of equipment can give our students an opportunity to utilize team-work and problem-solving skills.  Students will have an opportunity to propose, develop and perfect possible solutions developed around specific projects.  To support this project, please visit: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/stem-3-d-printing/2316896  Please share this link with your friends and family, too.  Anyone can support the project from anywhere!

Help Wanted

We are in need of a fundraising chair person or chairpersons!  The Fundraising Chair oversees the fundraising activities of the PTSA.  A lot can even be done at home since most PTSA fundraising is done through events.  This position may research new opportunities for fundraising and may help pursue grants.  It can be divided up into specific efforts.  For example, one person can be working on grants, another person can be managing the silent auction donations, another person could be promoting the alternative fundraiser, another person can be organizing the reusable bag fundraiser.  Working a fundraising role can help build or refine marketing and organizational skills that are applicable to many different professional roles.  If you are interested, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org.

PTSA Upcoming Events:

Monthly General Membership Meeting

Monday, November 7th

6:30 – 8:00 pm

Monday is our next meeting.  We will start with the combined meeting with C3AC at 6:30 for the principal’s and teacher’s report.  In this meeting, we will continue the discussion about our fundraising goal (please see feedback request below), and develop action items around our PTSA participation goal.  We will finalize our budget for this year and talk about the results from Trick or Treat Street.  Participating in these meetings is a great way for you to make a difference in our school by helping us make decisions about what we can and should be doing for our school to make it the best learning environment it can be.  We need your voice, so please join in!

Feedback Request:

UPDATE: to my knowledge, we have not received ANY feedback from this request.  If this is important to you, please let us know what you are thinking.

At our meeting last week, we were discussing our goals for the year.  We had previously decided that one of our goals should be around fundraising.  In a year when district funds are more limited than they have been previously, that made sense.  In order to make it a SMART goal, we want to target the fundraising goal for a specific item.  We did not come to a conclusion about what that would be though, so we want your feedback.  What do you think would be the most important thing that we fundraise for during this school year?  This is not to say that we won’t fundraise nor fund other items.  This is just about where we should focus our efforts, and to some degree it will help us figure out HOW we should fundraise depending on the amount we need to raise.  Some ideas that were thrown out (but are not limited to!):

  • Personnel (para-professionals is all we are allowed to fund legally)
  • Instructional materials
  • Technology equipment
  • Professional development
  • Another shed
  • Greenhouse
  • STEM supplies (i.e. weather station, 3D printer)
  • Enrichment (field trips, assemblies)

Please let me know what you think.  Tell us on Facebook fb.com/ccck8ptsa or email ccck8ptsa@gmail.com  Feel free to speak to any of the PTSA board to let us know your thoughts, too.  We appreciate your feedback.

king-soopersamazonsmile

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to Smile.Amazon.com, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.)  Planning to purchase decorative gifts for your family for the holidays?  Stay tuned for our annual Evergreen Fundraiser coming in a few weeks.  Buy yourself decorations, send some to your family and friends, and encourage them to do the same.  It ALL supports our ability to support our school!  Give it a try today!
