Challenger Sports Camps is looking for a program coordinator for the summer camps they host right here at CCCK-8.  We’ve been hosting this popular program since the turf field was installed.  They are looking for a ‘Camp Coordinator’ to be the point of contact for your local camp, and to help them find ways of reaching as many families and children as possible. You’ll be helping them with some of the following:

– Place posters and banners in the local community e.g. stores, Rec centers, coffee shops etc.,

– Drop off flyers at local schools, youth groups, Mom’s groups etc.,

– Post on community group Facebook pages and other social media outlets.

They will provide all of the material needed to distribute in the area, and they will keep in touch with you to share ideas on how we can best provide the most successful camp experiences.  If you are interested in helping to organize these successful camps, please contact Nathan Robinson  at nrobinson@challengersports.com.

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.

January Budget & Membership Meeting

image002

Just a reminder the January General PTSA Membership Meetings is Monday.

Monday, January 22nd
CCCK-8 Library
6:00 – 7:00 pm – School Budget Priorities w/C3AC
7:00 – 8:00 pm – General PTSA Membership Meeting

January’s meeting is a very important two-part meeting. From 6 – 7 pm, we will have the opportunity to share with the school our priorities as family and community members about how we want to see the school build its budget for next year. If you want the school to hear where you would like them to spend their money, then this is the meeting to share that information as well as listen to other people’s priorities.

Then from 7 – 8 pm we will have our standard monthly meeting where we will. We will also be developing action items around our Friends of Rachel Club support goal. We will also gather feedback about the Men Make A Difference Day event as well as (gulp!) start planning for the silent auction and talent show so we can finish up the necessary fundraising for this year.

For the full agenda, please click below.
January PTSA Agenda

We will also need to approve the December meeting notes. If you have not reviewed them yet, please do so here: December 2017 Meeting Notes

CHILD CARE is available! The student council has committed to provide child care at each of the PTSA and C3AC meetings, so your kids will be safely having a great time in the gym while you provide your critical input to our activities!

Participating in these meetings is a great way to have an effect on what our kids experience at school.  This is an excellent way for you to make a difference and be a partner in decision making for the school.

GOAL PROGRESS: We are just BARELY over our goal for an average of 10 people per meeting, so we still need 10 or more people to come to Monday’s meeting to continue to meet that goal! Especially with the school budget topic, we hope to see you there to make your voice heard!

As always, if you have any thoughts, comments, suggestions, please send them our way at ccck8ptsa@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you Monday night!

2018 – 2019 Special Events / Teacher Appreciation

Our amazing Laura Graves has announced that she won’t be our Special Events Chair and Teacher Appreciation Chair next year.  She has done an amazing job, and we will miss her in this role!  She has most graciously offered to help the next person in these roles by showing them the ropes for the rest of this year.  If you are interested in planning our events throughout the year, including Back to School Night, Trick or Treat Street, Men Make A Difference Day, and the talent show/silent auction, then let us know right away to take advantage of this time with Laura.  This is a big job, so it does not need to be one person.  Just let us know how much or how little you’d be interested in doing.

12/20/17 UPDATE: A Special Events committee meeting divided up some of the responsibilities, so we only have a few special events where we need some help for next year.  If you are interested in a smaller role, this could be your chance!!  Just contact Laura Graves for more details.

Laura has also been doing all the teacher appreciation work.  If you are interested in showing all of our appreciation for our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do by organizing four staff meals over the year and preparing occasional gifts and special treats for them, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take as much time as the Special Events work, but it still VERY important.

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.

Men Make A Difference Day is Wednesday!

Men Make a Difference Day

January 10th we want to celebrate all the men that love, support and guide the students at our school.  Men, bring your kids to school early and have breakfast in the library.  Breakfast will start at 8:15.  When school starts you can work on a project together and spend time in your child’s classroom.  Please stay the day and participate as a science fair judge after lunch.  If you would like to sign up to participate, please use our Sign Up page: http://signup.com/go/uqDhbLe

Ladies – we need your help with breakfast so the men can share the time with the kids.  There are some sign-up slots for helping or for food in the morning that anyone can sign up for!
