UPDATE: I have one person who would like to SHARE this position.  If you were hesitant to take on the whole thing, but are willing to do it with someone else, please contact Jody (contact info below.)  Remember: Many hands make light work… and it is always fun to volunteer with a friend!

Do you like to treat others with gifts or other special treats?  We are seeking a Teacher Appreciation Coordinator.  The position is responsible for organizing two staff dinners, two staff lunches and other teacher and staff appreciation treats throughout the year.  The school staff works hard for our community kids, so we want to show them all the love they deserve!  If you are interested in helping us demonstrate to all our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take much time, but it still VERY important.  This position works well as a job-sharing opportunity, if you don’t want to do it by yourself, and community members are welcome to apply!  If you or someone you know might be interested this position, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org

Directory:

This year, the school will not be publishing a school directory due to privacy rules they need to follow.  We realize that is an important resource for so many, so we are building one of our own. If you wish to be included in the directory, please  go to http://ccck8ptsa.org/ccck8-student-directory-submission/ and input your information.  We will print a copy of the directory for all PTSA members.  Instructions for access to the online directory will follow in a more secure manner!

Vote!!

There are important measures where we need your voice during this election! Your ballot includes a state-wide education-funding amendment, and for Jeffco residents only there will be a Jeffco Schools bond and mill levy. Be sure to read about what they would mean for our school and our students’ safety, opportunity and achievement.
At our last membership meeting, we voted to endorse all three as we believe these measures will help improve the learning environments at our public schools.

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to Smile.Amazon.com, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.)

Teacher Appreciation

Classroom Enrichment Support Fund

Please check your child’s Friday folder for information about our Classroom Enrichment Support Fund.  In recent years, the PTSA has provided a classroom enrichment fund in order to provide financial resources for field trips, guest speakers, and other ways of learning at the classroom level.  This year we are providing $300 per classroom.  Enrichment opportunities often cost between $50 – $300, so we welcome you to contribute to this fund to help the teachers provide these unique learning opportunities.  Any funds you donate will be applied to your student(s)’ classroom fund and will help expand what the teachers are able to do.  You may contribute online at: http://www.ccck8ptsa.org/programs-events/in-school-enrichment/  or send a check with the form provided in the Friday Folder.  In order to maximize the planning time to utilize these resources, please make your donation by October 15th.  Of course, any donation at any time is welcome!
